KDW operated from the converted Ormonde Stables in Kilkenny City from its official opening in 1965 until its closure in 1988. Retail was seen as an opportunity from the early days of KDW and the KDW shop was used to sell prototypes, promote design and provide manufacturers with a working example of the business opportunities around well designed and promoted Irish products. KDW opened a shop in Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco and participated in in-store promotions in Altman's in New York, Heal's in London and Neiman Marcus in Dallas. The early workshops in Kilkenny were Ceramics, Candle making, Precious Metals and Metalwork Woodturning and Textiles; which comprised weaving and printed textile departments. The best part of the resort was the staff of the dive shop. The rooms were basic and simple but perfect forus because we were there to dive. We dived 3 times a day--two boatdives then we did a night dive, afternoon Kittiwake, and shore divesthe other days. The aircraft is required to carry vaccine vial packages as its payload and must fly the standard mission profile for each lap. However, the aircraft is required to land anywhere on the runway and taxi to the designated vaccine vial package drop area. The aircraft must repeat the procedure until all vaccine vial packages have been delivered to the designated destination (minimum 1 vaccine vial package is required to be delivered) within a 10 minute flight window. After moving along the wagon road beside the railroad, Custer’s men approach Appomattox Station from the southeast. The Station consisted of only a few houses with a squad of Confederate cavalry guarding the trains. Fred Blodgett (of the 2nd New York Cavalry) rode up to an engineer, calling out “Hands up,” while leveling his carbine. A call for engineers among Custer’s men went out in order to get the cars away as a large Confederate force was believed to be in the area, and shells began to rain down in the area of the Station. The final battle of the Civil War took place at Palmito Ranch in Texas on May 11–12.
